...Or technically Happy Holidays anyway if you're not celebrating Christmas.
Okay, so here's a present for people who are following these news. But goddamn it, I hate having a stiff neck on a holiday I do give a damn about.
NEW COMIC, NEW DIRECTION
While developing games, ideas pop out and sometimes those ideas don't really necessarily work in the game you're developing, but what if you can use those ideas and put it onto another project? Instead of putting it inside a special game demo, this is made into a comic series. ...Which is something I would be saying except I'm trying to talk about a special that really isn't meant to be an intro to the comic, but beggars can't be choosers.
Yeah, this is the new comic series, Jonathan's Misadventure, a spin-off of JA as a comic, with the special being The Christmas Miracle. The comic is more or less a more comedic spin onto JA's plot and puts more focus onto the characters themselves. The comics are based on JA games I'm working on but you don't really need to read it because they serve as bonus material and not so much as a comic adaption of the JA games (Because how the hell are you going to implement how the player CAN define Jonathan Patchman in a linear narrative where the player isn't in control of what Jonathan does?). While the comics do contain spoilers by default, The Christmas Miracle as a special ultimately doesn't have any spoilers by default because there's no big stakes in the plot, it's more or less looking at how Jonathan and friends have a Christmas Party, hence why this logo is purple instead of green as it normally would have. Sure, it's not much but like social events in the actual games, you don't really need a big ass plot to enjoy it, it's more or less to relax within the atmosphere and enjoy the moments no matter how major or minor it is. Further more, they're all constructed within 4 panels. Why 4? Because I really like 4 koma mangas and I like to challenge myself with limitations. Plus, it's the format that I like in WarioWare DIY so this is something I prefer to do. Of course, they're formatted as a manga so they're going to be read right to left as usual.
Release date? I dunno. I suck at release dates. 2025 should be fine. I really don't know how long it will be, but I really don't plan on making it a long special. So far, I have 11 pages with some notes, 2 1/2 of a pages sketched, 1 3/4 pages done (The second page is incomplete because the last panel isn't finished with the needed text.), and a finished cover. This is steady progress considering I just started this in like mid December so there's not much I can do before Christmas arrived, not including making the comic site for it. Once it's ACTUALLY done and ready to be presented, I will post a preview of the comic onto NG as an art piece that includes some pages for the comic alongside with a news post for the comic.
OLD DEMO, NEW UPDATE.
Something that has been bothering me is the JA demo and it's annoying because it's not really perfect but I feel like the quality it's in isn't good enough as it should be. Now, to kill this inner unhealthy perfectionism, I decided to make a update to JA Demo one last time, which I will dub the "FINAL Update". Originally it was gonna add new content to an old ass demo that isn't going to have a final game (Yet. *cough cough* Jonathan's Adventure: reVISION *cough cough*), but I decided, "why make a big ass update for a demo?" And scale it back. Why do it now? Well, it's because I've lost the demo build and the only way to salvage this is use the old Jonathan's Adventure build as is. Does this invalidate the saves from the previous demo versions? I don't really know and I don't really care if it doesn't work, I mean, it's a demo for a game that won't come out because I already have a game that does that (It's Jonathan's Adventure: reVISION.) and what, the demo's like 10 minutes? It's the FINAL update as in the FINAL major update, minor updates may or may not come but don't expect me to add more to a demo, why do that when there's other projects that need that time and development? So what will the "FINAL Update" bring?
- QoL (Quality of Life) improvements for the demo. These mainly target how slow the game is at certain points and solve it by making them faster for the player's convenience.
- Bring back content needed for the game. Audio errors are annoying especially when the game bugs you about a stupid file that doesn't matter. It doesn't make the game unplayable, but this update will obliterate those annoying errors. But content have to be removed solely because it doesn't make sense to have achievements in Bickery Edition obtainable in an older version of JA considering Bickery Edition is on a new build and project, which won't make older saves work on the game because of the new changes towards its' database, including skills, items, maps, and such, meaning GameJolt achievements are no longer a thing.
- Bring back removed content. There's not much removed content I can guarantee (Unless I wanna get banned.) and I don't promise much to bring in this catergory.
So when will this update be brought? Probably in 2025, don't quote me on the date.
Yeah, so that's pretty much it. See you later guys and have a wonderful day.
