PeanutButterGamer sent me here so is it good? I guess so.
I like how raunchy it is as a fangame and the visuals have a charm to them, but the problem is that the game's a bit of a cheating bastard when it comes to hitboxes and also that the reward for staying alive is basically the bullies still running at you as if you're on your last life, only for them to get killed by a bus, but the game is still playing so it's not really over and once it happens, that's it really.

This is one of the cutest music players I've ever seen in my life.
Love the presentation of it.

It's an easy game for sure, but it's honestly felt it was more of a waste of time. First of all, the gameplay. It's simple, but lacks instructions for the FIRST fight. It doesn't tell you to land your hit marker onto the green areas, thinner one being a high reward of the enemy not able to hit you, but you dish out more damage to the enemy. While there's nothing wrong with that, problem is that if you fail to land on green by letting the marker slide to the right end of the whole background that has both red and green areas, it won't just automatically call it a miss, you have to press Space to tell it to make your attack miss, and Space ONLY stops the hit marker. This would be excusable... if the menu was mainly navigated by the keyboard, because to select Fight you HAVE to use the mouse. Why not just make it so that Left Click also stops the hit marker, or better yet, WHY NOT HAVE SPACE PRESS THE BUTTON ANYWAY. For the music, it mainly plays ONLY The Entertainer by Scott Joplin, and it's the song mainly you hear when playing this game, aside from a cutscene or two. Which okay, I'm one of those people who like the song, but just because I like it doesn't mean I'll enjoy it everytime it's used. And if I have a complaint about the aesthetics, it would be the fact that there's a fucking furry in a spaghetti western setting.

DagurasuSK responds:

The Programmer rushed a lot because of the game jam, he is going to work on it but not right now.

I'm going to work for another music for the game meanwhile, + (maybe) change a little detail of the history.

Thanks for the review, Idk if i get offended or find it funny.

btw: I'm going to post more things here, would be cool if you follow.

Has less customization than the actual games it's based on. Graphics look HORRIBLE because they're all raster and not vector-based like the games are, causing this ugly watermark-ish line art. Sometimes you can see the white pixels on the clothes suggesting they just took other images and slapped the thing onto the doll and that's it. Clicking on objects to change color is abysmal because one, why not do this in another menu, and two, it also changes the eye line colors, meaning if there's any color to them, they also change colors as well and may not be the color you want it in. Also you better be satisfied with your character because once you click the arrow, you cannot go back. WHY.

It's a platformer game... With only ONE level. I mean, there's combat but it's not finished enough and frankly it shouldn't be presented like this if it's like so bare bones because both playable characters play in the same stage.
Also, I know how they're going to explain the rank system, but it makes no sense. Now, to get a higher rank, you need to have LESS points to get a rank something like B. How does that make sense...? Because the POINT of a rank system is to encourage players to get more points, why do I get rewarded a B rank for something like 23 points but I get a D rank for having 68 points?? It doesn't even tell you how much did you do to earn it, because in games like Sonic Adventure 2, it's very simple, unless it's a time based mission, you raise it by either killing enemies, collecting rings, or even doing stunts in the stage, plus a time bonus if you're fast enough.
The camera is terrible because it doesn't work for you when you need to do platforming, as it often doesn't focus what's ahead of your direction and what you wanna do. I mean, there are pits in the game that kill you, but the game won't warn you about it if you're trying to play it like a Sonic game.

boomboomaladirt responds:

jeez man, the game isn't even finished, and well what do you expect from a bunch of middle schoolers, we dont have a big team like Sega. we're still working on the points system. is everything okay at home..?

paperrcut responds:

thank you for your criticism, but please keep in mind that we are just doing a passion project. this game was published not even a month ago, so it would be expected to be more patient. we are currently very busy with school and other activities, and we're waiting to fix these problems soon in the next update. regarding the point system, it is time based. the faster you complete the level, the less points, and the less points, the higher rank you get. we WILL put in a how to play screen that explains it, and points doesnt always mean that you'd need more of them. its a BETA, so most likely it will only have one level dude. you cant compare us to Sega when its only 4 people working on this against a titan.

It's a nice RPG to play that's based on modern times, but there's a big complaint and that's how the mid to late game is. You see, the church has a wave fight for the last room in the area, meaning you have to do, if I remember correctly, 4 waves, the last wave allows you to recruit the Priest BUT he'll stay in the party if you beat the wave. However, because every time you lose in any wave, it results you restarting from Wave 1 again, you will still keep the EXP earned from the fights, therefore allowing you to farm EXP and potentially break the game's balance from now on. Why? Because if you just respec and then invest a bit more in Defense, you'll see why the game stops being challenging and that's because most enemies' attacks still use your Defense, and their Power is abysmally low enough to the point where furries deal no to 2 damage per hit on a LVL 10 Orderly. This isn't fixed in the final area of the game since most of their attacks don't ignore Defense and also the fact that you can just heal yourself and also deal way more damage assuming if you use Chalice wisely to the point you'll never run out of Energy points for any of the party members. The final battle isn't remotely challenging at all, which is crazy because it feels like exactly how I would play if it was another normal battle, aside from the fact that enemies will have damage sponges that you can take out, but these are mostly on enemies that don't threaten you much in terms of DPS, since my strategy is always take out the biggest threat or take out that'll pose a bigger threat.

This is sadly one of the worst collabs I've ever seen in 2024. This is NOT a diss at the artists here, the problem is the execution. Now, if this was planned to be a comic in the first place and everyone was told that their submission must be at this size to keep consistency and prevent issues like low-resolution images. For people reading this, this is because some submissions are pixel art and it's not easy to preserve their quality by scaling them like it's any other artwork. You must actively scale them up by numbers that aren't decimal numbers to avoid issues like half pixels, where the artwork has an inconsistent bit size. If those major issues were fixed, at least there would better scores around.
As a collab, it's pretty abysmal because for one, barely anyone is credited to the work. Okay sure, the credits & info tab EXISTS but that doesn't negate the fact that because it uses Bando's Comic Wizard, which is meant to be an easy tool for artists to create webcomics within the Games portal, anything needed for standard collab things like who made this image and such is completely FUCKED. New people won't exactly scroll more than 60+ artworks to find this artist(s) because it's a tedious task and collabs fix that by just allowing links to the artist's profile. You could argue a fix to that is by watermarks, but this isn't a good idea for cases like what if the artist changes a username, so ridiculously, the way to fix it is to not use the Bando's Comic Wizard and make the game a interactive gallery. And don't you fucking tell me that there's another way to do it and that's the description. Listen, if the pages were marked with numbers and so did the description, maybe I would give it some slack just because it did something a bit different, but like no, do you expect me to remember whatever page, think "Gee, I wanna know if this artist has made more Lady Bow artwork", and expect me to go through the torture of FINDING the guy with the description alone? I mean, there's the board, but like name those people, aside from me, that would do that. The lack of music is also a weird choice because like, it's the Nintendo 64 collab, why not have music from those games?
Overall, it's a collab made by a guy who never had a deep inch in managing a collab that made a very low effort slideshow compared to other collabs that barely none of the artists knew what was happening over there. The artists were never at fault for signing up a collab about a well-recognized console.

Chdonga responds:

Okay now I think you guys are just trying to drag some stupid off-site drama into this collab.

Creeperforce24 responds:

ITS NOT THAT BAD! At this point I’m starting to think it’s gonna end up with A bunch of wusses like Pokémon mystery collab!

Lizguy74 responds:

Something’s gotta be up. I completely agree with you Bickery.
We all unknowingly signed up to a collab run by a guy who clearly didn’t know how to manage it.
The thing I don’t understand Is, why are all the negative reviews so long winded, venomous, or both?
I get that the collab is was bad, artists like myself and others like you weren’t credited properly whitch created a feeling of distrust, etc, but other people who weren’t even a part of the thing left the most spiteful comments in a way that just felt cruel. They’d start off with something constructive and then just tear you apart instead of just leaving it at that.
Why?!? Is there something that AlexTool has done that we don’t know about?
Why is the hate so strong with this shitty collab!! I just want answers.

BoiledMilkz responds:

i have no idea how, completely out of nowhere, we all collectively decided to dump a huge one on this collab

salt-on-pizza responds:

As an artist in this collab I agree to an extent, also @Lizguy24 and @Hydweeb , i think it's because @Alextoolstudio kept dm-ing someone that their collab was better, and how they responded to any negative comments

Cosmiccookie2000 responds:

@Lizguy74 outside of alex being a bit of jerk I can't think of anything else, the only reason why I'm not being as harsh as I am is because ALEX IS SIXTEEN. I'm not going to be some " online parent " to some random kid, like the collab could've been handled better , but despite some of the fair criticism I wouldn't say this is "NG worst collab " give it a few weeks to month and I guaranteed this will be forgotten and everyone will move on to something else.

This barely has anything related to Ongezellig aside from the fact that the pilot is mainly a girl who HAS to make a history project on a stricter deadline. I don't get why Mymy is the girl you see when you get a Game Over once the British or any other ship catches you, especially when Mymy is obsessive with Dutch culture in general and that SHOULD make her the one calling the shots on the Dutch boats.
Gameplay aside, it really has nothing to do with the show at all. It's more or less based on the Indian spice trades, except it's really boring because instead of crossing through the oceans to return back to the Netherlands to sell those spices back, whilst risking your lives due to pirates also wanting that spice, it's just your boat ONLY around India and either spices or gold will spawn eventually within the map. There ARE power ups for the game, sure, but the only reason why you want to get more gold to switch from Maya to Kiki or any of the other characters is because they're faster the more expensive they get. What's worse is that the AI is very braindead and will get stuck on land, so if you play them right, you practically have no difficulty in getting those spices or gold.
In general, it's a very boring execution of the Indian spice trades with barely any strategy you can use in this game.

This game made me want to vote for Trump.
Because well, it's short but problem is I just don't like the presentation, just looks out of place for a game that's just Donkey Kong but you replace most of the graphics for left-wing political comics. And not the good kind.

TrumpyKong responds:

Oh but you're wrong.
I replaced ALL of the graphics with bad left-wing political comics.

I mean, this isn't exactly terrible because well, the gameplay is so simple that it's like trying to fail at cooking hot milk, you just pretty much boil milk. And it does what it's supposed to, so there's no real reason to fix what wasn't broken. While graphics aren't that appealing, it's annoying that for people who's trying to make something as their first time that they'll go ridiculously pessimistic on it. I get it, it's your first game, but be at least PROUD that you made it this far enough to finish making a game. It's baby steps for sure, it's not the BEST but at the end of the day, you just don't strike gold by either the first or last game, it's something that you gotta learn to develop whether you have the "talent" or not.

Diruiz responds:

I greately appreciate the praise but, I'm saying this game is bad because I made a timer and did it in 20 minutes, It's actually quite surprising that I could make such a good game as my 2nd attempt at coding in a 20 minute time constraint. So I'm not truly being pessimistic, as I'm kind of proud of myself, I basically named this "Worst game in excistance" because of a lack of naming ideas.
